What is a chemical change?

In a chemical change, a new substance is produced. This new substance has different chemical properties from the original substance.
                             COMBUSTION
A  chemical property is a characteristic that describes how a substance reacts with another substance. Wood has a chemical property which means it can burn. Atoms in the wood react with the oxygen atoms in the air, and the wood transforms into new substances with  different chemical properties, such as ash and smoke. The process of burning is called combustion.
